Orbital - Blue Album

The end of an era has come...

This, the final album from Orbital, the Blue Album is a return to the electronic. Purely electronic. There is almost no organic sound in this entire work, but that isn't necessarily a bad this, and Orbital proves this one last time.
I've also been a fan of this group's work for a long time. Not quite a staunch a follower a for other artists, but still, ever since I first heard 'Nothing Left, Pt. 2' from The Middle of Nowhere. Unfortunately, there's nothing quite as epic on this album (though 'Transient' almost gets there), but this is a solid exercise in square/saw wave dynamics.

For those of you familiar with The Middle of Nowhere this album could possibly described best by calling it one big long 'Spare Parts Express'. It begins with subtle blips and clangs flowing into a grand apex of synth in 'Transient' then flows into eight more tracks of electronica (as much as I dislike this term, it's the only way to describe it) ranging from reserved breaks of 'You Lot' to the odd dance of 'Acid Pants' to the heavy electro sounds of 'Pants'...(yes, two of the tracks are named Pants and Acid Pants...

Despite the strange nomenclature of some of the tracks, they all fit well toghter. This isn't really an album to, let's say, drive to...it's more of your 'Study music' variety.
Heavy, yet calm enough to maintain attention elsewhere...a great background album...
which isn't necessarily a bad thing, in fact, it's a good thing...a really good thing.

Personal Favorite Tracks:
Transient
Pants
Lost
